Dog friendly places in Estepona & Marbella
Updated: Oct 30
The Costa del Sol is a great place for dog lovers! Along with gorgeous nature and beautiful weather for walks and exercise both along the coast and in the countryside, there are plenty of places within the towns of Estepona and Marbella where you and your furry friend are most welcome. Some of our favourites places to spend an afternoon out with our fur babies include:
Beaches: Marbella and Estepona both have beautiful beaches and dogs are most welcome, as long as pet owners clean up after them. Keep in mind, though, that if you plan on spending a full day at the beach, it’s probably best to keep your dog at home as sand retains heat and provides no air flow, which can quickly overheat your dog if on it for too long.
Dog Parks: There are several dedicated dog parks in both Estepona and Marbella, fully fenced and designed with tunnels, hoops, and fun activities for dogs so that you can take your dog off its lead and let them run around to their heart’s content for a bit of exercise. Find one on Avenida Litoral across from Carrefour or in the Las Mesas area in Estepona. There is another in the heart of Marbella centre that forms a part of the Represa Park.
Countryside: Lots of beautiful walks exist in and outside the city, wherever you live. Walk along the paseo for some beautiful sea views, hile up the La Concha mountain for an intense workout, or try some beautiful river walks such as La Quinta in Nueva Andalucia, the Acequia Trail in Benahavís or Río de Castor in Estepona. Make sure that you bring plenty of water for your dog to drink, as well as a recipient to put it in so that they have fresh cool water to keep them hydrated, even on short walks. Walks outside cities are also where you are more likely to find bugs and insects that can be dangerous to dogs, so make sure you are extra vigilant.
Beach Bars and Restaurants: It’s not too hard to find beach bars and restaurants that are happy to welcome your well-behaved dog. In Estepona, you can enjoy a delicious meal or a summertime drink at Palm Beach, Healy’s Irish Bar, Chanchalay Bar, Bar Restaurant Haloman, Sonora Beach and more. Some of our favourite dog-friendly restaurants in Marbella include Los Mellizos, Bao Garden, The Beacon, and Karma Beach.
Doggy Daycare in Estepona, Marbella and Beyond
Sometimes, it’s not possible to take man’s best friend with us everywhere. Beaches can become too hot, dogs can become restless at bars and restaurants if we are enjoying a leisurely affair with family or friends, or we simply may not have the time or energy to spend as much time on walks or at the park as our active dog needs. In situations like these, doggy daycare is an ideal solution. With dedicated dog-friendly staff and facilities, an afternoon away can give your dog the time and space they need to socialize, release their energy, and have fun in a safe and secure environment.
At Paws Doggy Daycare, we offer a 3500 square metre, fully fenced, orchard where your dogs have the opportunity to run and play with dogs of similar age and temperament. Our full-sized swimming pool gives them the perfect place to cool off, too, without the worries of dangerously hot beach sand. And our indoor and outdoor resting spaces –including an indoor doggy hotel, lots of sunny and shady areas outdoor, and cool paddling pool resting zones, mean that your dog can rest when they need it. We also regularly take walks in the countryside as a Paws Pack so that there is always something new and exciting to keep all our canine guests stimulated.
Overnight Stays Welcome
An afternoon out is sometimes all we – and our dogs, need. But we know that weekends away, summertime holidays, and business trips can also mean you need a safe place where your dog will be taken care of while you can’t be there. That’s why at Paws Doggy Daycare, we also offer overnight boarding, too. And just like our day use guests, you can rest assured that your dog will have constant supervision to keep them safe, as well as lots to do to keep them happy.
